Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has picked his favourites for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, predicting that Australia will win the series 3-2 against India. Hogg believes that Australia’s experienced pace attack, coupled with their knowledge of Australian conditions, will give them the edge, especially on the bouncy and swinging pitches of Perth, Brisbane, and Adelaide.
Hogg also shared his opinion on India’s spin duo, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. While there is uncertainty over which spinner should play in the first Test, Hogg advocates for both to feature, especially on the greener wickets in Perth. Jadeja’s skills in the first innings, combined with Ashwin’s expertise as the pitch wears down, would provide India with two complementary spinners to tackle different phases of the game.
Additionally, India’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, hinted at the debut of 21-year-old all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy for the first Test. Morkel praised Reddy’s versatility and highlighted his potential to provide vital support to India’s pace attack during the challenging five-Test series against Australia.
