Coldplay Ahmedabad tickets listed for ₹2 lakh on reselling platforms within minutes of going live on BookMyShow

Tickets for Coldplay’s Ahmedabad concert have already appeared on reselling platforms, with prices significantly higher than the original value. The concert, scheduled for January 25, 2025, at Narendra Modi Stadium, went live for sale on BookMyShow at 12 pm today. However, within minutes, the tickets were listed on Viagogo at prices inflated by five to six times the original amount.

The Narendra Modi Stadium, with a capacity of 1,32,000, is the largest cricket stadium in the world, making it a significant venue for Coldplay’s performance. The band will also perform in Mumbai before heading to Ahmedabad, with another concert on January 26, 2025.

On Viagogo, one ticket to the South Premium section was listed for ₹2 lakh, while even the cheapest ticket started at ₹25,000. There are currently 167 tickets available for the Ahmedabad concert on Viagogo. Meanwhile, over 5 lakh fans are stuck in a virtual queue on BookMyShow, struggling to secure tickets.

This issue has raised concerns among fans, as it mirrors the ticketing fiasco during Coldplay’s Mumbai concert sales earlier this year. Fans had accused BookMyShow of mismanagement, with the platform crashing moments after ticket sales began on September 22. The tickets sold out quickly, and fans were left frustrated as resellers listed tickets at exorbitant prices.

Even after Maharashtra cyber police mandated BookMyShow to enforce stricter controls, the resale of tickets continues. Viagogo, which is reselling the tickets, maintains it is simply a marketplace for individuals to resell their tickets, denying any direct association with BookMyShow.

The situation has sparked backlash from fans, who are questioning the fairness of the ticket sales process and the effectiveness of measures to combat ticket scalping.
