In a significant anti-drug operation, a joint team of the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), with support from the Indian Navy, intercepted an Iranian vessel near Porbandar in the Arabian Sea, seizing over 500 kilograms of narcotics. The operation, which began late at night, successfully halted the vessel believed to be trafficking drugs into India.
This seizure is part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking under India’s “Zero Tolerance against Drugs” policy and the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” campaign. Just last month, Gujarat and Delhi Police jointly seized 518 kilograms of cocaine valued at Rs 5,000 crore from a pharmaceutical company in Ankleshwar, underscoring the state’s proactive stance against narcotics smuggling.
