Union Minister Piyush Goyal has expressed strong confidence in the Mahayuti alliance’s prospects of winning a decisive victory in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Campaigning for BJP candidate Archana Patil Chakurkar in Latur, Goyal criticized the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), led by Sharad Pawar and Congress, for engaging in what he described as “divisive politics.” According to Goyal, there is widespread public dissatisfaction with the MVA, and the reports indicate that Mahayuti is set to establish a “stable and strong government” in Maharashtra.
Goyal pointed to the narrow margin between MVA and Mahayuti in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where MVA led by around 200,000 votes. He claimed this lead was based on a “fake narrative” and accused Pawar of neglecting issues related to farmers and the Maratha community during his tenure. Goyal added that the joint efforts of the BJP and Mahayuti had resulted in significant benefits for farmers, contrasting it with the alleged “dynastic politics” of the Deshmukh family in Latur.
Archana Patil Chakurkar, daughter-in-law of former Congress leader Shivraj Patil, is challenging Congress MLA Amit Deshmukh, son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, making the contest one of significant political importance.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a rally in Jalgaon, also voiced confidence in a Mahayuti victory. Shah asserted that the opposition would face a “significant defeat” and predicted Mahayuti’s success on November 23. Drawing from recent election outcomes, Shah suggested that BJP’s wins in states like Haryana and anticipated success in Jharkhand signal a broader trend favorable to the party.
With Maharashtra Assembly elections set for November 20 and vote counting on November 23, both alliances are intensifying their campaigns, gearing up for a competitive race for the state’s 288 assembly seats.
