Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole’s recent remarks at a rally in Akola have stirred controversy, with his comments targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Patole asked the OBC community of Akola whether they would continue to support a party that allegedly referred to them as “kutta” (dog), urging them to make the BJP “a dog” due to their arrogance.
The BJP swiftly responded to Patole’s remarks, accusing the Congress of frustration ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya criticized the Congress and its allies in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition for descending into frustration, citing earlier comments from other leaders like Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray. Somaiya attributed these statements to the growing realization within the opposition about the likely victory of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, based on recent opinion polls showing a clear majority for the coalition.
Patole’s remarks come amid rising tensions in the political landscape as the November 20 election date approaches. The contest between the BJP-led Mahayuti and the MVA is heating up, and the election results, scheduled for November 23, are expected to further escalate the political discourse. Patole’s comments also follow a recent incident where Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant made a controversial statement about BJP leader Shaina NC, referring to her as “imported maal,” which led to an apology from Sawant.
