Sindhu Gangadharan, the new Chairperson of Nasscom and Managing Director of SAP Labs India, emphasized the strong and enduring ties between India and the US in technology and strategic cooperation. Her comments, made on Wednesday, highlight the steady focus on technology partnerships, which are anticipated to continue regardless of the US election outcome.
With the $250 billion Indian outsourcing industry and immigration policies potentially affected by election results, Gangadharan pointed out that India’s tech capabilities have become essential not only for the US but for the global market. She noted that “the cooperation has been extremely strong over the last years,” and added that India’s expertise will remain critical to US tech needs.
Gangadharan also mentioned the significant growth of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India, many of which are set up by US firms. In 2024, there has been a notable increase in GCCs being established and expanded, which Gangadharan described as “mind-boggling.” This trend is expected to persist, reflecting confidence in India’s role as a tech hub.
Appointed as Nasscom’s chairperson in August, Gangadharan took over from Rajesh Nambiar, who was recently named President Designate of the association. Her focus includes strengthening Indo-US tech collaboration and expanding India’s contributions to the global tech ecosystem.
