India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, reaffirmed India’s support for the Palestinian people and reiterated India’s stance on a peaceful resolution in the Middle East during a recent UN Security Council Open Debate. Harish highlighted India’s significant contributions, including $120 million in development assistance to Palestine, of which $37 million has been directed to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). He also mentioned India’s recent shipment of 6 tons of medical supplies to aid Palestinians, dispatched on October 22.
In his remarks, Harish strongly condemned the terror attacks in Israel on October 7 and emphasized India’s support for a two-state solution, calling for the establishment of a sovereign and independent Palestine with secure and mutually agreed borders. He called for the immediate release of hostages, a ceasefire, and underscored India’s belief in dialogue to resolve ongoing conflicts.
Highlighting India’s role on the global stage, Harish described India as a “reliable partner” dedicated to supporting peace and stability in the Middle East, urging international cooperation toward a sustainable resolution in the region.
