Bike ambulances to come to Mumbai soon

The Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services (MEMS) project is set to expand with a new fleet of advanced ambulances, thanks to a joint venture between Sumeet Group Enterprises and Spain-based SSG Matrix. During a press conference in Colaba, Diego Prieto of SSG and Sumit Salunkhe of Sumeet Facilities LTD announced plans for a phased rollout of high-tech ambulances to enhance critical care during the “golden hour” — the first crucial hour after an emergency.

The upcoming fleet will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as Mobile Data Terminals (MDT), GPS, RFID, CCTV, and caller location tracking, allowing efficient coordination and patient monitoring in real time. Additionally, first responder bikes and boat ambulances for sea and river emergencies will be introduced, reflecting the project’s comprehensive approach to reaching patients in various terrains.

The expansion aligns with the ethos of bringing essential medical assistance directly to patients as quickly as possible. This development also coincides with bilateral meetings between India and Spain, with Prime Minister Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez exploring collaboration opportunities, including advancements in healthcare infrastructure.
