Maharashtra’s air quality has seen a decline, largely due to changing weather conditions, increased vehicular emissions, and the recent spike in firecracker use. As a result, cities like Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, and Nashik are among the most polluted in the state. Real-time data from aqi.in on Wednesday morning confirmed the trend, with air quality levels in the ‘Moderate’ category and an overall AQI score of 94 for Maharashtra.
Visuals from Mumbai’s Bandra Reclamation area highlighted reduced visibility due to pollutants and falling temperatures. However, recent data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) indicates a slight improvement in daily average AQI for some cities. Mumbai’s AQI, for instance, dropped to 96 on Tuesday from 153 on October 28, and Nagpur saw a decrease from 146 to 102 over the same period.
