As the festive season unfolds, Delhi experienced a slight improvement in air quality on Tuesday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) shifting from the ‘Very Poor’ to the ‘Poor’ category, recorded at 261 at 8:00 am, according to SAFAR-India. The city had previously seen six ‘very poor’ days this October, with the AQI improving from 356 on Sunday to 304 on Monday, as per the Central Pollution Control Board.
However, forecasts indicate the air quality may deteriorate again, particularly on Diwali, due to firecracker emissions and stubble burning. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, air quality is expected to range between ‘very poor’ and ‘severe’ from Thursday and persist through the following week.
