Cyclone Dana: Over 35 lakh affected in Odisha, none killed

In Odisha, 35.95 lakh people across 14 districts have been affected by Cyclone Dana and resulting floods, as reported by the state’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari. Approximately 8,10,896 individuals were evacuated to 6,210 cyclone relief centers. While Kendrapara, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts were among the most severely impacted, there have been no reported casualties so far.

As of 10:30 am on Sunday, over 1,178 cyclone relief centers were providing shelter, cooked meals, and other essential supplies to those affected. Cyclone Dana has impacted 1,671 gram panchayats across 108 blocks within the 14 affected districts. Initial reports indicate that around 5,840 houses have sustained full or partial damage. Additionally, there has been a significant loss of crops due to the cyclone’s impact on the eastern coast.
