On Monday morning, an Indian Army vehicle was fired upon in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor area, but the alert soldiers successfully foiled the attack. According to Army officials, there were no reported injuries or casualties, and a search operation was launched immediately in the Battal area to track down the attackers.
This incident follows a recent spate of attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. Last Thursday, terrorists ambushed army vehicles in Baramulla, killing two soldiers and two civilians. The convoy, which included personnel from a Rashtriya Rifles unit and civilian porters, was en route to the Nagin post near Gulmarg when terrorists attacked two army trucks.
Earlier in the week, terrorists killed a local doctor and six non-local laborers at a tunnel construction site in Gagangir, Ganderbal, underscoring the recent rise in violent incidents in the region.
