Following an attack on an army convoy near Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian security forces have intensified their search in the dense forests of Gulmarg and Butapathri. Drones and helicopters are being used to locate the terrorists believed responsible for the attack, which took the lives of two soldiers and two local porters. The attack was reportedly carried out by the People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAAF), thought to be a proxy of Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The ambush, which occurred on Thursday evening, targeted a convoy moving towards the Nagin post. On Friday, Jammu & Kashmir’s lieutenant governor, Manoj Sinha, honored the fallen soldiers, while Lieutenant General Kumar outlined a new strategy aimed at strengthening ties between civilians and security forces.
The incident has sparked reactions across the political spectrum. Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Farooq Abdullah, criticized the central government’s security measures in the region, with Abdullah also urging Pakistan to cease support for terrorist activities. J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina and other political figures condemned the attack, expressing support for military efforts to address terrorism in the region.
