Ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, which are set to take place in two phases, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has announced a list of six candidates for the polls. Among the nominees, Suresh Paswan will contest from Deoghar, and Sanjay Prasad Yadav from Godda. The announcement comes after RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav confirmed that a consensus has been reached on seat-sharing within the INDIA bloc, which includes parties like RJD and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
Tejashwi Yadav expressed confidence in Hemant Soren continuing as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, emphasizing the unity of the alliance. He criticized the BJP for allegedly harming Jharkhand and being “anti-constitution” and “anti-reservation.”
The RJD’s announcement followed remarks by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who claimed that Yadav lacked “brand value” within the INDIA alliance. However, Yadav dismissed such criticisms and focused on the coalition’s unity and plans for the upcoming elections.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Jharkhand Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, with the results to be declared on November 23.
