In a significant political development, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has officially invited Chief Minister-designate Omar Abdullah and his council of ministers to take the Oath of Office on October 16, 2024, at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
In a letter from Raj Bhawan, LG Sinha expressed his pleasure in inviting Abdullah to form and lead the government of Jammu and Kashmir. He confirmed that the oath-taking ceremony would take place at 11:30 a.m. on the appointed date, with Sinha administering the Oath of Office and Secrecy to Abdullah and his council.
The letter also conveyed best wishes for Abdullah’s tenure and success in serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It acknowledged the receipt of a letter from Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), confirming Omar Abdullah’s unanimous election as Leader of the Legislature Party. Support letters from other parties and independent MLAs, including the Congress, CPI(M), Aam Aadmi Party, and several independents, were also mentioned.
Omar Abdullah confirmed this development through a post on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his appreciation for receiving the formal invitation to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
