Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored the spirit of Navratri by penning a special Garba song, “Aavati Kalay,” as a tribute to Goddess Durga. The song, reflecting the divine feminine energy, celebrates Maa Durga’s power and grace, resonating with the joy and devotion that mark the festival. Sharing the song, PM Modi expressed his hope for the blessings of Maa Durga to remain with everyone during this auspicious time.
Modi also thanked Purva Mantri, an emerging singer, for her melodious rendition of the Garba song. This contribution follows Modi’s earlier Navratri greetings, where he wished the nation a blessed festival, dedicated to Shakti Vandana.
Navratri, meaning “nine nights,” is a significant religious observance in India, dedicated to Maa Durga and her nine avatars. Celebrated with distinct regional variations, the festival includes Garba nights in Gujarat, dramatic Ramlila performances in North India, and vibrant rituals and fasting in Bengal. Each region reflects the shared themes of devotion, triumph, and the power of the Goddess during this period, which culminates in Vijayadashami, symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
