New Delhi: Dr. Rajeev Menon, National General Secretary of the Republican Party of India (A), has issued an ultimatum to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, urging him to fulfill his election promise of making Delhi a liquor-free state. Speaking at an event held on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Dr. Menon declared that if the government fails to meet this demand before the 2025 assembly elections, he will lead a protest and hunger strike at Jantar Mantar.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Menon reminded the public of Kejriwal’s promise to impose a ban on liquor sales in the capital. “Today, Delhi has become a hub for liquor scams, which is a betrayal of the people’s trust,” he said. Dr. Menon expressed concern over the growing influence of alcohol on society, particularly its negative impact on the youth and families. “Alcohol is hollowing out our society from within and endangering the future of our youth and families. It is crucial that we put an end to this.”
Dr. Menon warned that if the government does not take concrete action soon, his party will launch a major protest. He vowed to stage a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar to remind the government of its promises. The event was attended by several prominent figures and party workers, all of whom supported the demand to make Delhi liquor-free.
The Republican Party of India (A) has committed to fighting for a liquor-free Delhi, and Dr. Menon announced that this issue would be a key focus in the upcoming elections.
