Delhi Government Criticized for Failing in Transgender Welfare; Immediate Implementation of Transgender Welfare Board Demanded:RPI Secretary General Dr. Rajeev Menon

Dr. Rajeev Menon, the National Secretary General of the Republican Party of India (Athawale), has called on the Delhi government to expedite the formation of a Transgender Welfare Board, highlighting that the national capital remains behind other Indian states in this initiative. He pointed out that 12 states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, have already established such welfare boards, which are essential to safeguarding the rights and improving the welfare of transgender individuals.

Dr. Menon stressed the need for livelihood opportunities, educational support, and social security for the transgender community, urging the government to implement schemes that offer free gender reassignment surgeries, housing, scholarships, and income-generating programs (IGP). He expressed disappointment that despite previous claims by the Delhi Social Welfare Department to establish the board, no concrete action has been taken.

To address this delay, Dr. Menon plans to file formal complaints with both the central and Delhi governments, advocating for the protection and support of transgender individuals in the capital.
