Ludhiana: Unknown persons booked for blocking water inlet of Tajpur road CETP plant

The police from Division Number 7 have registered a case against unidentified individuals following a complaint by Rahul Verma, director of the Punjab Dyers Association. Verma reported that miscreants blocked the water inlet of the 40 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) on Tajpur Road by dumping around 100 concrete bags into it. This obstruction, which occurred about three days ago, has disrupted the plant’s operations, causing significant damage to industries dependent on it and potentially leading to further industrial losses.

In response, the police have filed a case under sections 272, 326(C), and 61(2) of the BNS Act and initiated a manhunt to apprehend those responsible for the sabotage.

This incident coincides with recent actions by the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), which issued notices to three CETPs, including the one on Tajpur Road, directing them to halt the discharge of treated water into the Buddha Nullah. The orders follow directives from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
