CM Adityanath plays chess with Kushagra Agrawal, India’s youngest FIDE-rated player

In a heartwarming event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath played a game of chess with Kushagra Agrawal, India’s youngest FIDE-rated chess player, during the young prodigy’s visit to the Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur on Friday. Kushagra, just shy of his sixth birthday, has already achieved an impressive Rapid FIDE rating of 1428.

During their meeting, the chief minister engaged in a thoughtful conversation with Kushagra about chess strategies, commending his extraordinary talent. Kushagra, who began playing chess at the age of four, quickly rose to prominence, earning his FIDE rating within a year under the guidance of his sister, Avika Agrawal, also a talented chess player.

Kushagra has competed in multiple international FIDE-rated tournaments in Patna, Bengaluru, and Pune. The chief minister extended his blessings to Kushagra, promising full support from the Uttar Pradesh government to nurture his talent further, expressing confidence that he would make the state and nation proud in the future.
