Apple is significantly expanding its presence in India with plans to open four new retail stores in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai, following the success of its first two flagship outlets in Delhi and Mumbai. The company’s rapid expansion reflects India’s growing market for premium gadgets, with analysts noting that Delhi and Mumbai alone account for over 20% of Apple’s business in the country.
In addition, Apple is shifting a large part of its manufacturing to India by producing the entire iPhone 16 lineup, including the Pro and Pro Max models, through partnerships with Foxconn, Pegatron, and Tata Electronics. This marks a major step in Apple’s strategy to reduce reliance on China and establish India as a key manufacturing hub, with iPhones produced in India being sold domestically and exported globally.
Apple’s senior VP of retail, Deirdre O’Brien, expressed excitement about the company’s growing engagement with the Indian market, emphasizing that the new stores will serve not only as retail spaces but also as hubs for customers to explore products and get expert advice.
