BJP: Jakhar not quitting as head of Punjab unit

JALANDHAR: Punjab BJP on Friday denied reports that their state president Sunil Jakhar had resigned from the post, calling them “baseless and false.”

“Jakhar is president of the Punjab unit of BJP and performing his duties. This is a false propaganda being spread by opposition parties,” Punjab BJP general secretary Anil Sarin said. Punjab BJP’s social media accounts also posted that reports of Jakhar’s resignation were “fake news.”

Although Jakhar did not respond to calls to clarify his stand, his personal assistant Sanjiv Trikha said, “He has not resigned and there is nothing of this sort as is being discussed.” He added that Jakhar was in Delhi since Thursday.

Party insiders in Punjab said Jakhar was upset after Ravneet Singh Bittu was inducted in the Union cabinet despite losing election from Ludhiana in the LS polls.
