Manish Sisodia Was Told ‘Kejriwal Framed’ Him, Says Begged To Pay Son’s Fee After Arrest

New Delhi: Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia recounted his time when he was arrested in the liquor policy scam case at an event on Sunday. Sisodia stated that attempts were made to turn him against former CM Arvind Kejriwal. Speaking at Janata Ki Adalat, Sisodia said, “They tried to break me. I was told that Arvind Kejriwal had framed me. They even told the court that Kejriwal had named me.”

He further claimed that, when he was in jail, he was asked to name Kejriwal, stating: “I was told in jail, ‘name Kejriwal, you will be saved.'”

This comes days after Kejriwal stepped down as Delhi’s Chief Minister, with AAP’s Atishi Marlena taking over. Kejriwal, before submitting his resignation, stated that he would return to the post only when the citizens of Delhi deliver a verdict in his favour in the upcoming Assembly Elections. Announcing his resignation, he had stated that the public currently deems him corrupt. His resignation came two days after he was granted bail by the Supreme Court in the Delhi liquor policy case.

Earlier, Kejriwal had claimed that it was “falsely” reported in the media that he had put the entire blame on Manish Sisodia. However, he said, “I have not given any statement saying that Sisodia or anyone else is guilty. I have said Sisodia is innocent, AAP is innocent, and I am innocent.”

Addressing the event, Sisodia also claimed to have received offers to switch to the BJP. He alleged, “I was told to switch, or they will have you killed in jail.”

“I was told to think about myself and that no one thinks about anyone in politics. I was told to think about my family, my wife, and my son who is in college,” he claimed further.

He said, “I told them, ‘you are trying to separate Laxman from Ram. No Ravan has the power to do that.’ Kejriwal has been my brother for 26 years.” He also shared that he had faced financial difficulties, saying, “In 2002, when I was a journalist, I bought a flat worth ₹5 lakh, it was taken away. I had ₹10 lakh in my account, that was also taken away. I had to beg for help to pay my son’s fees.”

“The ED froze my bank account,” he said further.

Sisodia was in jail for nearly one-and-a-half years before he was granted bail in August.
