At the highly anticipated Glowtime event on September 9, Apple not only launched the new iPhone 16 series but also introduced the latest Apple Watch Series 10. The new watch comes with a larger, brighter display, a thinner design, and a lighter build. In India, the Watch Series 10 starts at Rs 46,900, maintaining a price similar to last year’s models. If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly Apple Watch, there’s good news ahead.
While rumors had suggested that Apple would unveil a more affordable Apple Watch SE at the Glowtime event, the event primarily focused on the Watch Series 10 and updates to the Watch Ultra 2. This left many expecting the SE model disappointed. However, reports indicate that the affordable Apple Watch SE is still in development and will be available soon.
In his latest newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman confirmed that the next generation of the Apple Watch SE is indeed in the works.
The upcoming Watch SE is rumored to feature a plastic body, which is expected to lower its price compared to the current 2022 Apple Watch SE model, priced at Rs 24,900 in India. It remains unclear whether the plastic build will be an optional feature or if the entire line will shift to this design. Gurman hints that the plastic version will likely come in “bold colors,” reminiscent of Apple’s colorful “C” series iPhones from 2013.
According to Gurman, the new and colorful Watch SE is expected to appeal to a younger audience, particularly school students. This aligns with Apple’s recent announcement of the Apple Watch for Kids feature, which allows children to communicate with their parents and friends using an Apple Watch, without needing an iPhone.
The new Apple Watch SE is anticipated to receive a significant processor upgrade, with a potential release date sometime in 2025.
