Arvind Kejriwal’s recent announcement to resign as Delhi Chief Minister has drawn swift responses from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with some leaders dismissing it as a calculated public relations (PR) move.
BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari suggested that Kejriwal’s decision stems from a recognition that his reputation in Delhi has shifted. “This is a PR stunt by Arvind Kejriwal. He now realizes that his public image in Delhi is not of an honest leader but of a corrupt one,” Bhandari told ANI, further claiming that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has gained a national reputation for corruption.
Bhandari also accused Kejriwal of adopting what he called the “Sonia Gandhi model,” referring to the period when Sonia Gandhi wielded influence behind the scenes while Manmohan Singh served as Prime Minister. He implied that Kejriwal might attempt a similar strategy, stepping down publicly but continuing to control the government indirectly.
