Opposition offered to back me as PM, I refused: Gadkari

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently revealed that he was approached by an opposition politician with an offer to support him as a prime ministerial candidate ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, but he declined. Speaking at a journalism awards event in Nagpur, Gadkari emphasized his commitment to his principles and loyalty to his party, stating that becoming the Prime Minister was not his goal.

While Gadkari did not name the opposition leader who made the offer, it has been known that the INDIA bloc has praised him in the past. He reiterated that personal conviction is central to Indian democracy and stressed the importance of maintaining integrity, both in politics and journalism. Despite speculation surrounding his potential candidacy, Gadkari reaffirmed that he is dedicated to the Sangh ideology and is not in the race for the Prime Minister’s post.
