Senior BJP leader Anil Vij has publicly expressed his intention to stake a claim for the Chief Minister’s post in Haryana, citing popular demand and his seniority within the party. Vij, who has been a member of the Haryana legislative assembly for six terms and is contesting his seventh, stated that although he has never sought any position from the party before, the growing support from people across Haryana has led him to take this step.
While acknowledging that the final decision lies with the party leadership, Vij’s comments reflect the ongoing internal competition within the BJP for the CM position. This comes amid reports of infighting, with another senior BJP leader, Rao Inderjit Singh, earlier expressing dissatisfaction over not being considered for the top post.
Vij’s commitment to changing Haryana’s “fate and fortune” resonates with his supporters, but the BJP has already identified Nayab Singh Saini as a potential chief ministerial candidate. Despite this, Vij emphasized that his long-standing tenure and the public’s support will be key factors in his bid for leadership.
