New Delhi: During his recent visit to the United States, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, criticized the BJP, asserting that had there been a “level playing field,” the ruling party’s seat count would have been considerably lower. On Tuesday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed his support for Gandhi’s claim, emphasizing the uneven political landscape.
“It is well known that central investigative agencies are often deployed against the BJP’s opponents. Meanwhile, as observed in Maharashtra, aligning with the ruling party at the Centre seems to absolve past wrongdoings,” said Yadav, the former deputy chief minister of Bihar.
His remarks referenced Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, who recently split from the NCP and joined the NDA government in the state, despite previous corruption allegations made by the BJP.
Yadav added, “Those boasting of a 400-plus seat tally have now been reduced to around 240. This is just the beginning. The growing dissatisfaction with the current administration will only intensify.”
Despite the RJD securing only four out of the 23 seats it contested in the Lok Sabha elections, Yadav remains optimistic about the Mahagathbandhan’s prospects in the upcoming state assembly polls.
