New Delhi: The national capital witnessed cloudy skies and light rainfall on Wednesday morning, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting further showers until Friday, September 13. The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for Delhi.
The forecast suggests persistent rainfall over the next few days, raising concerns about waterlogging, particularly in low-lying areas, and potential traffic disruptions across the city.
Light rain in various parts of Delhi since the morning has already caused traffic congestion, especially along the route from Akshardham Temple to Sarai Kale Khan.
On Sunday, several areas of Delhi experienced waterlogging after a spell of rain, with Mundka seeing vehicles struggle through inundated streets, resulting in traffic jams. On Saturday evening, the rain provided some respite from the city’s intense humidity.
In contrast, earlier this week, heavy rainfall in Ajmer, Rajasthan, led to severe waterlogging, particularly in low-lying regions. The flooding caused significant traffic disruptions, as vehicles found it difficult to navigate submerged roads, further aggravating congestion on major routes.
