Apple has recently confirmed the final date of the most awaited fall event. The Apple event, “It’s glow time” is scheduled for September 9. Traditionally, the company hosts this event to unveil its annual hardware products. This year, the tech giant will introduce the next-in-line iPhone 16 series, along with new gen AirPods and Apple Watch. But Apple releases new products every year, why is there so much excitement this time? This is because the iPhone 16 will be the first Apple device to arrive with an in-built AI, Apple Intelligence. During WWDC 2024, the company introduced iOS 18, which is designed to work in harmony with AI. However, this is not the only reason. The new series is speculated to bring in multiple upgrades over iPhone 15 and all previous lineup. Here, we bring 5 such major upgrades expected to come to iPhone 16 series.
iPhone 16 upgrades
New design and aesthetics: First up, the base models of iPhone 16 are rumoured to bring a new design. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are likely to get a fresh look with a vertically lined dual camera on the back panel. Well, one can say that the company is revamping the iPhone 11 design, but with a tweak. It will bring a change in the design language of the last series. Additionally, it is also rumoured that the new design could include thinner bezels and larger screens, giving users a more immersive display experience. This is not it. Apple is also expected to bring new colours to the yet to be launched iPhone 16.
New improved chipset: The iPhone 16 lineup is rumoured to feature a new and advanced A18 Bionic chipset. While the Apple is yet to confirm, the leaks suggest that the A18 is expected to deliver exceptional speed and efficiency. If this holds to be true, then the iPhone 16 series will become a power house for gaming, multitasking and more.
High-res camera system: iPhones are known to have the best camera in the smartphone industry. But with iPhone 16, Apple is expected to improve it even further. The rumour has it that the Pro models will come with a 50-megapixel triple-camera system. The camera is expected to bring optical image stabilisation and AI-powered features for improved photo and video quality. The iPhone 16 Pro could also support up to 5x optical zoom.
Action and Capture button: The rumour and leaks suggest that the Action button, which was exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro models, is now coming to all iPhone 16 devices. This button replaced the mute toggle bar on the edge of the device. Moreover, the speculations are that the iPhone 16 series will also feature the capture button. As the name suggests, the capture button will enhance the landscape photography and videography experience. But it is still unclear which model will feature this specification.
Advanced AI capabilities: To compete with the AI race, Apple has introduced its AI, Apple Intelligence, coming up in the iPhone 16 Pro models. The Pros will get another pro feature with AI. But Apple Intelligence is not the only AI coming to the series. Other than that, Siri will be integrated with ChatGPT to enhance the overall experience.
Bonus: iOS 18 has a lot to offer too. Talking about customisation first, iOS 18 introduced a new approach to customising the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Control Center. You can now arrange apps and widgets in any open space, including placing them right above the dock. New visual effects, such as dark or tinted themes, allow you to give your app icons and widgets a unique look. In addition to this, you can enlarge icons for easier access and better visual impact.
