- The iPhone 16 may also see a price hike
It’s almost time for Apple to refresh its iPhone lineup. The tech giant has confirmed that it will be hosting its fall event—this year it’s the ‘Glow Time’ on September 9—likely launching the much-anticipated iPhone 16 series. As is tradition, Apple is expected to bring significant upgrades to its new generation iPhone lineup compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 15, including a better camera, a bigger display, a new and faster chip, and more.
iPhone 16 design and display rumours
The iPhone 16 series is expected to retain much of the design language from the iPhone 15 series, with some minor tweaks that could make the new models slightly distinct. The standard iPhone 16 models are rumoured to look almost identical to the iPhone 15 from the front, featuring a 6.1-inch 60Hz OLED screen and the familiar Dynamic Island. On the other hand, the Pro models are expected to see an increase in size, with a 6.3-inch display, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max may grow to 6.9 inches. If these rumours prove true, this display change will be the first significant size upgrade in several years.
While the front of the iPhone 16 standard models will be almost the same, rumours suggest that Apple will be bringing back the vertical camera layout we saw in the iPhone X, potentially making the camera capable of 3D or spatial recording compatible with Apple’s Vision Pro.
Speculations also suggest that Apple is highly likely to include the Action Button in the entire lineup, unlike how it restricted it to the iPhone 15 Pro last year. Additionally, rumours indicate that the iPhone 16 Pro models may include extra buttons, such as a dedicated capture button aimed at enhancing camera control functionality.
iPhone 16 series to get upgraded performance
Another significant upgrade for the iPhone 16 is expected to be its processor. While the iPhone 15 utilises the A16 chip, the iPhone 16 is rumoured to feature Apple’s latest in-house A18 chip, which is expected to boost the overall performance of the series. The new A18 chips are said to enable on-device AI processing, introducing Apple Intelligence across the lineup and significantly improving overall performance, including gaming and multitasking.
To complement the powerful A18 chip, Apple is also rumoured to increase the RAM from 6GB to 8GB in the iPhone 16, further enhancing performance and multitasking capabilities.
iPhone 16 getting better cameras
While both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 will likely feature the same 48-megapixel primary, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and 12-megapixel selfie cameras, the iPhone 16 might get improved image sensing processing (ISP) with the A18 chip, which is expected to deliver better photo and video quality. The vertically aligned cameras on the iPhone 16 might also enable users to capture 3D/Spatial video recording, a feature currently limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Latest software
Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 will run iOS 18 smoothly. However, the iPhone 16 is expected to offer an elevated experience with Apple Intelligence, including an improved Siri with ChatGPT integration. Additional AI features exclusive to the iPhone 16 series are also anticipated at launch.
iPhone 16 expected price hike
The iPhone 15 is expected to receive a price reduction after the launch of the iPhone 16, making it a more affordable option. While the iPhone 16 is likely to be priced higher than the iPhone 15 due to production costs, it’s expected to offer more features and capabilities, making it a worthwhile investment for those seeking the latest and greatest technology.
