Legendary Australia wicketkeeper batter Adam Gilchrist feels that the onus is on the Pat Cummins side that they are still dominant at home, when India visit Australia late in 2024 to play the Border Gavaskar Trophy. India will be touring Australia for the showpiece 5-match Test series, starting late November.
Australia have not won the BGT in the last decade and will be looking to exact revenge against India. The Rohit Sharma side come to Australia on the back of winning two back to back BGTs down under, once under the captaincy of Virat Kohli and the other under Ajinkya Rahane.
“Onus is on Australia to prove they are the dominant force at home. India know how to go away and win overseas,” said Gilchrist, speaking to The Times of India
Gilchrist backed Australia to win the BGT but said that it was going to be a close call.
“Naturally, I’m going to say Australia, hope they get there. But it’s too close to call. It will be a close tussle,” Gilchrist said.
