Rohtak medical college doctor kidnaps, assaults dental student, arrested

Adental student at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak has alleged that she was kidnapped and assaulted by one of the resident doctors of the anatomy department. Police filed a case, and arrested the accused. The assault took place on Friday.

Speaking with India Today TV, Rohtak’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Virendra Singh, stated that a first-year BDS student from PGIMS lodged a complaint last night, alleging that she was kidnapped and assaulted.

According to the student’s complaint, on August 16, the accused kidnapped her from PGIMS and took her to Ambala and Chandigarh, where she was assaulted. No evidence of sexual harassment or rape has emerged from the victim’s statement or the investigation until now, the police stated.

A video of the same has emerged on social media platform X, where the girl can be witnessed crying and showing the wounds on her body caused by the assault.

In the video, she stated that she has been facing the assault for the last seven months. She also stated that the accused threatened her with cutting down on her attendance if she raised the issue with the administration.

The incident comes amid nationwide protests by doctors and the medical fraternity after the harrowing rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a state-run hospital in Kolkata.
