Google Pixel 9 series launch: How to watch livestream
The Google event, Made by Google, is scheduled at 10AM PT, (10.30PM IST) today (August 13). In India, the company will launch its products on August 14. The livestream of the event will be available on the official YouTube channel of Google and its website.
Google Pixel 9 series: What to expect
During this launch, Google is set to shake up its Pixel lineup with major updates, moving away from the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro model. Four new devices are expected to debut: the Pixel 9 Pro XL, which will take the place of the Pixel 8 Pro; the Pixel 9 Pro, upgrading the Pixel 8; a more affordable Pixel 9 model to compete with Apple’s iPhones; and the groundbreaking foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold, marking a significant expansion of the Pixel brand.
Pixel 9: The standard Pixel 9 model is rumoured to come equipped with a 50- megapixel primary camera, a 48- megapixel ultra-wide lens, and 12GB of RAM. This marks a notable enhancement in its camera capabilities, promising better low-light performance and higher-quality photos overall.
Pixel 9 Pro: The Pixel 9 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display, 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. The camera system on the Pro model is said to bring significant upgrades, with leaks suggesting a 48- megapixel telephoto lens and a 42- megapixel front-facing camera.
Pixel 9 Pro XL: In addition to these models, Google is expected to introduce the Pixel 9 Pro XL. This variant is anticipated to feature a larger display, likely between 6.5 and 6.9 inches, making it ideal for users who prefer larger screens. The phone is also expected to come with the Tensor G4 chip, Titan M2 security module, 16GB of RAM, and a 50- megapixel main camera with a 48- megapixel wide-angle lens and a 48- megapixel zoom lens. On the front, the XL variant might feature a 42- megapixel selfie camera and is tipped to cost around $1,099.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Google is also expected to unveil its second-generation foldable phone, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This model is expected to build on its predecessor with a more refined design and enhanced functionality. It will likely share the Tensor G4 chip with the Pixel 9 series, promising improved performance and efficiency. With an 8-inch main display and a 6.3-inch cover screen, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold aims to offer a seamless experience, whether used as a tablet or a phone.
Google Pixel event: What’s more
Along with the Google Pixel 9 smartphone lineup, the company is also expected to release new wearables — Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2. While there are no official notifications for the same, the leaks and rumours have a lot to say.
Google Pixel Watch 3: The upcoming smartwatch is expected to come in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, to suit a broader user base. Notable upgrades include a more vibrant 2,000-nit display, slimmer bezels, and a more efficient battery with rapid charging. Additionally, Google is rumoured to introduce advanced running metrics, further enhancing the watch’s fitness tracking features and providing users with a more comprehensive workout experience.
Google Pixel Buds Pro 2: Rumours suggest that Google will unveil the Pixel Buds Pro 2, the latest iteration of its wireless earbuds, which will maintain the signature egg-shaped charging case and in-ear design, but with new colour options such as raspberry, mint, porcelain, and haze. The next-generation earbuds are anticipated to boast enhanced sound quality and battery life, building on Google’s reputation in the audio industry and offering users an improved listening experience.
Google AI, Gemini
Google is expected to expand the functionality of its Gemini AI assistant, which has been gradually improved in recent months. The AI-powered assistant is rumoured to offer new features such as enhanced smart home controls, memory for event details, and the ability to recall previously viewed content. These advancements are expected to make Gemini AI a more integral part of the Pixel ecosystem, offering users an even more personalised experience.
