Avika Gor on attending PM Modi’s luncheon: Validated that I’m on right path

Actor Avika Gor, who became a household name after ‘Balika Vadhu’, shared her experience of attending PM Narendra Modi’s luncheon to honour the PM of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr Pham Minh Chinh. Not only did she reveal what her conversation with PM Modi was like, but she also said that both the prime ministers recognised her.

Speaking to Hindustan Times about the luncheon, Avika Gor said, “It was definitely a feeling of pride. It validated that I’m on the right path. Such instances give you confidence to continue doing what you believe in.”

The ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ actor added, “I spoke to Modi ji in Gujarati, saying Jai Shri Krishna to him, and he seemed really happy. We have that Gujarat connection. I also interacted with the Vietnamese PM. The minute we met, he told me ‘of course I recognise you and I absolutely know how important you are to our country’. It was really beautiful.”

Talking further about the event, she shared, “Everybody was amazed to see someone so young there. A lot of Indian people ended up asking me what my connection was with Vietnam out of curiosity. But the Vietnamese were really excited to see me and a lot of them clicked pictures with me, which they said they wanted to show them to their families.”

Avika also admitted to not taking it seriously when she was approached with the invitation. It was her father who confirmed to her that the invitation was actual and that it was not a prank.

“Getting this response from the people of Vietnam was really special because I’ve had that response from Indians all my life, but being in that space with both prime ministers, both of them saying that they recognise me, these things just melt your heart,” Avika said.

Avika will next be seen in ‘Bloody Ishq’.
