Haryana schools to replace ‘good morning’ with ‘jai hind’ greeting

The Haryana Directorate of School Education has issued an advisory instructing schools to replace the daily greeting “good morning” with “jai hind” starting from Independence Day.

The directive, aimed at fostering patriotism and national pride among students, was sent to all district education officers, principals, and headmasters. The department emphasised that “jai hind” should be used before the national flag is hoisted on Independence Day.

The department noted that “jai hind,” coined by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose during the fight against British rule, was later adopted by India’s armed forces. The slogan symbolises unity, transcending regional and cultural differences.

The new greeting is intended to inspire students with a sense of national unity, respect for India’s history, and a daily reminder of their identity and potential contributions to the nation.
