Tamil Nadu health minister orders transfer of government hospital’s dean for negligence

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramaniam ordered the transfer of the dean of the Paramkudi Government Hospital in Ramanathapuram on Tuesday for improper management of the hospital.

Subramaniam visited the hospital as part of his surprise inspection and expressed displeasure at its improper maintenance.

The minister found that the CT scan room of the hospital was not being maintained properly.

He also called up the contractor deployed for the extension of the hospital and asked him why the construction of even one floor was not completed even after 18 months.

Apart from this, the minister received a bigger shock when he discovered that the welfare scheme posters inside the hospital had images of former Tamil Nadu chief ministerJ Jayalalithaa.

He questioned the dean whether he was aware of the change in the government in the state three years back.

Notably, the late Jayalalithaa was the supremo of the AIADMK, which lost in the Assembly elections in 2021. The AIADMK’s rival party, the DMK, led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, won the elections and came to power in the state in 2021.
