It was a tough day at the office for Indian athletes on Saturday at the Paris Olympics 2024 as multiple athletes representing the tricolour narrowly missed out on adding to the medal tally. Twin bronze winner Manu Bhaker lost out on another medal by the smallest of margins as she finished a painstaking 4th in the Women’s 25m Air Pistol Final.
But Indian archer Deepika Kumari kept the fight going for the Indian archery contingent as the sole competitor in the Women’s Individual event, before ultimately crashing out in the quarterfinal. Golfers Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar stood tied at 34th and 48th respectively at the end of the third round of play. Sailors Netra Kumanan and Vishnu Saravanan finished their dinghy events placed 24 and 23 respectively.
As far as India’s medal tally is concerned, the nation has won only three so far. Manu Bhaker opened the medals tally with a bronze in the 10m Air Pistol women’s event and another one in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh. Shooter Swapnil Kusale won a bronze in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions.
