PM Modi to address CII post-Budget conference; as INDIA rallies in Jantar Mantar for Kejriwal release

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the inaugural session of “Journey Towards Viksit Bharat: A Post Union Budget 2024-25 Conference” in Delhi on Tuesday, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). It aims to present the government’s larger vision for growth, and the industry’s role in it, said the PMO on Monday.

More than 1,000 participants from the industry, government, diplomatic community and think tanks, among others, will attend the conference in person, while many others will connect virtually from various CII centres around the country and overseas.

Oppn rally for Kejriwal release at Jantar Mantar

Across the city in Jantar Mantar, the Opposition-led INDIA bloc will hold a rally called by the AAP to protest Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s continued incarceration in the now-scrapped liquor policy case despite his declining health inside Tihar jail. Today’s rally is expected to be a show of opposition unity, with Congress, SP, RJD, TMC, DMK, CPI, CPI(M-L), NCP (SP), Shiv Sena (UBT) and other opposition parties to take part in it.

The AAP has been accusing the BJP of “conspiring to kill” Kejriwal in jail, citing his medical report that shows his sugar levels had fallen 26 times between June 3 and July 7.

Interestingly, Punjab’s AAP CM Bhagwant Mann, who will be attending the Jantar Mantar rally, will skip his government’s farewell for outgoing Governor Banwarilal Purohit, scheduled at the same time. Purohit, who has been at loggerheads with Mann throughout his tenure, will be replaced by Gulab Chand Kataria.
