New Delhi: Dr. Rajeev Menon, the National General Secretary of Republican Party, congratulates K. Kailashnathan on his appointment as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. K. Kailashnathan, a trusted aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Principal Secretary of Gujarat, was born in Vadakara, Kozhikode district. He is a 1979 batch IAS officer. During Narendra Modi’s tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Kailashnathan served as his Chief Principal Secretary. He also served as the Principal Secretary to successive Gujarat Chief Ministers Anandiben Patel, Vijay Rupani, and Bhupendra Patel, Dr. Rajeev Menon noted.
Kailashnathan’s new appointment comes after his retirement last month. Known as one of the most trusted officers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kailashnathan began his career as an IAS officer, holding positions such as Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary. After Narendra Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Kailashnathan served as his Private Secretary. When Modi ascended to the role of Prime Minister, Kailashnathan continued to oversee the initiatives started by Modi in Gujarat. Over his 18-year tenure from 2006 to 2024, he handled the responsibilities of the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office. Kailashnathan brings with him extensive experience working alongside four Chief Ministers, including Narendra Modi, as he takes on his new role in Puducherry, Dr. Rajeev Menon stated.
