The venue erupted in loud cheer as Aditya Roy Kapur made an entrance as the showstopper for Kunal Rawal on Day 3 of the Hyundai India Couture Week.
Dressed in a blue sherwani that featured patola-inspired motifs embellished with tones of gunmetal with a voluminous denim Patiala from the designer’s ‘Sehra’ collection, The Night Manager actor made sure all eyes were on him.
According to the designer’s note, the collection — which was the perfect blend of tradition and modernity — has been named after the “ornate headgear traditionally worn by grooms” in India, and showcases a “palette of luxurious fabrics such as sumptuous silks, opulent brocades, intricate bandhani, and the artful dhup chao threadwork, each garment is meticulously adorned with innovative interpretations of French knots and daring micro motifs.
But that’s not all. Even stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania walked the ramp serving a masterclass in androgynous fashion. She glided down the ramp in menswear — a billowy shahara and jacket set. Keeping her makeup and hair extremely simple, she ensured the outfit remained the highlight.
Talking about the inspiration, Kunal Rawal said, “Having had the privilege of dressing and attending numerous weddings of people who are so dear to me, I’ve come to deeply appreciate that the wedding day carries profound meaning for the grooms just as much as it does for brides. This understanding forms the heart of my inspiration for the ‘Sehra’ collection. We have meticulously crafted each design to not only enhance the groom’s ensemble but also to pay homage to the rich tapestry of traditions and emotions that define this very special occasion.”
