A minor girl from Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district was rescued after being kidnapped and raped for nearly two months in Karnataka. The 20-year-old accused has been arrested.
Details of the Abduction
The 17-year-old girl was abducted from her village in the Ubhaon area on the night of August 14. Following her mother’s complaint, a case was registered under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping or inducing a woman to compel for marriage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on September 11, according to Ubhaon SHO Rajiv Mishra.
Rescue Operation
On Tuesday, the police successfully rescued the girl near Bilthra Roadways and apprehended the accused. In her statement to the police, the girl disclosed that the accused had taken her to Karnataka and raped her repeatedly for almost two months.
Legal Actions Taken
Based on the girl’s testimony, the police have now added Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act to the case. The accused has been sent to jail.
