The body of a 13-year-old girl, who was reportedly beaten to death, was discovered in a sugarcane field in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district.
Discovery and Initial Investigation
The girl was allegedly tortured and killed, with her mutilated body found in a village sugarcane field. Sources reveal that she went missing while returning from school. Her parents reported her absence to the police late at night, but their complaint was not initially registered.
The next morning, villagers discovered the girl’s body and notified the police. Disturbingly, her eyes had been removed. Police then recovered the body, sent it for a postmortem examination, and filed a formal complaint.
Police Response
Lakhimpur Kheri Superintendent of Police (SP) Ganesh Prasad Saha visited the scene, conducted a preliminary investigation, and established three teams to probe the case.
Family’s Grievances
The victim’s mother accused the police of inaction, asserting that timely intervention could have saved her daughter, who had been missing for two days. She expressed frustration over the delay in filing the complaint.
Official Statements
SP Saha stated, “Initially, it appears the girl was beaten to death due to visible injury marks. A postmortem will clarify the details. We have deployed surveillance teams and officers from nearby police stations. We are thoroughly investigating and questioning individuals to uncover the truth.”
He added, “The family is currently not naming any suspects.”
