Ranbir Kapoor Opens Up About Personal Life and Relationships on Nikhil Kamath’s Podcast
In a forthcoming episode of entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath’s “People by WTF” podcast, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor discusses his relationship with his late father, Rishi Kapoor, his wife Alia Bhatt, and their daughter Raha. The trailer for this episode, released on Saturday evening, shows Ranbir and Nikhil engaging in a deep conversation covering various aspects of his life.
Reflections on His Father, Rishi Kapoor
Ranbir shared insights into his bond with his father, Rishi Kapoor, noting the complexities of their relationship. He described his father as a man with a short temper but also a good heart. Recounting his childhood, Ranbir admitted, “I never had the courage to disagree with him. My father was very strict, and I was always compliant, never saying ‘no’.” He added that he finds it difficult to express his emotions and rarely cries. “I’ve tried therapy,” he revealed, “but I struggle to open up emotionally, which makes it challenging for therapy to work for me.”
Addressing Past Relationships and Labels
Ranbir also touched on his dating life, addressing the labels that have followed him after his public relationships with two prominent actresses. Without naming anyone, he mentioned, “I dated two very successful actresses, and that became my identity – a Casanova. I was labelled a cheater for a large part of my life and still am.” He referred to the criticism he faced following his relationships with Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif, noting the public’s perception after comments made by Deepika on “Koffee with Karan” and his visible tension with Katrina during the promotions of “Jagga Jasoos.”
Family Life with Alia Bhatt and Daughter Raha
Ranbir spoke fondly of his daughter Raha, describing the profound impact of her birth. “It’s like someone has taken your heart out and placed it in your hands,” he said. He observed that Raha sees Alia as an extension of herself, while she associates him with fun and playfulness. Despite facing some criticism online regarding his demeanor towards Alia, Ranbir addressed these concerns, discussing his commitment to their relationship. The couple, who starred together in “Brahmastra,” is set to collaborate again in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film “Love and War.”
