Kolkata: On Sunday, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party and a member of the Lok Sabha, arrived in Kolkata to take part in the Trinamool Congress’ annual Martyr’s Day rally.
Yadav landed at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at 11:40 a.m., accompanied by his party associate and former Rajya Sabha member Kiranmay Nanda, along with Derek O’Brien, Trinamool Congress’s national spokesman and member of the Rajya Sabha.
Previously, Nanda served as the West Bengal Fisheries Minister during the Left Front regime when his party had a coalition with the CPI(M)-led Left Front in the state. It has been reported that both Yadav and Nanda headed straight to the rally at Esplanade in central Kolkata upon arrival.
Highlights of the Event
As with previous years, the highlight of the event is expected to be the address by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Observers are keen to hear what messages Banerjee and Yadav will convey regarding the future initiatives of the INDIA bloc at the national level.
